Alicat Scientific’s BB9 Series of multi-drop breakout boxes makes connecting, monitoring and controlling up to nine mass flow, liquid flow or pressure instruments to a single computer or programmable logic controller (PLC) easy and efficient. The BB9 is also an ideal solution for multiple flow instrument installations where devices are a long distance from the control site.
Each BB9 is built into a light, yet rugged, composite chassis that can be mounted in any orientation via its 3/16" diameter mounting holes. A single cable allows a user to independently monitor and operate as many as nine flow or pressure devices from a single computer. In installations that require more than nine flow devices, multiple BB9s can be daisy-chained to control up to twenty six devices. All BB9 models feature a common power bus, so power supplied to the BB9 will also power the devices it is controlling.

The RS-232 BB9 connects to flow and pressure instruments via double-ended 8-pin mini-DIN cables (DC Series), which carry both communications and power signals. Connected devices receive power via the terminal block on the front of the BB9 (DC voltage only, max 16 amps) or by connecting our PVPS24U power supply to one of the units (max 2 amps) or to the BB9 itself via its barrel-type power jack (max 1.5 amps). Connection from the BB9 to a computer is via the included USB 2.0 A-B cable, the included RS-485 9-pin serial cable (9-pin D-sub) or via the transmit and receive sockets on the terminal block.
