Flow Calibrator for Particulate Air Samplers – FP-25

Alicat FP-25 flow calibrating a Thermo Scientific 2025i FRM air sampler

Field Flow Standard for PM Air Samplers

Alicat’s FP-25 flow calibrator rapidly calibrates every low-volume particulate air sampler on your deck. All-weather accuracy and durability ensure consistent readings in any weather.

Brochure Specs Manual

All-Weather Accuracy

Be confident in your flow measurements, no matter the weather. Responsive temp probes and humidity sensors keep the weather in check as you monitor flow, pressure and temperature in real time. Or, collect a robust average of 5000 readings in 5 seconds.

Fast & Easy Operation

Connect quickly to any low-volume sampler with the industry’s only pass-through PM10/PM2.5 inlet connection. Or, use the included barb fitting with face seal for no-hassle fitting changes. Rapid temperature equilibration lets you get started right away.

Durable Field Design

Keep calibrating after a drop from the roof, or finish your audit if it starts to rain. This compact calibrator fits in your pocket but is built tough with an all-aluminum body, weather-resistant connections and the industry’s only lifetime warranty.

Ambient Air Monitoring

Calibrating PM air samplers with the FP-25 is just one way that Alicat makes air monitoring easier. Visit our ambient air monitoring page to learn more.

Method 1: Direct Mode

Direct Mode connects the Alicat FP-25 directly to your sampler’s downtube. The pass-through connection most closely replicates sampler operating conditions. The low pressure drop of the Alicat ensures that it is virtually invisible to your air sampler.

  1. Thread the Direct Mode downtube adapter into the outlet of the FP-25 until its face seal is tight against the flow body.
  2. Thread the Direct Mode PM inlet adapter into the inlet of the FP-25 until its face seal is tight against the flow body.
  3. Fit the FP-25 onto the BAM downtube, and place the PM10 inlet on top of the FP-25. If using a PM2.5 cyclone, leave it in place, and fit the FP-25 between it and the PM10 inlet.
  4. Insert the FP-25 external temperature probe into the sampler’s radiation shield.
  5. Be sure to tare the Alicat FP-25 before you begin the BAM 1020 or BAM 1022 flow calibration.

Method 2: Standard Mode

Standard Mode connects the FP-25 to any air sampler by means of a hose barb and silicone tubing. FRM and FEM samplers will use their flow audit adapters for this setup.

  1. Thread the barb fitting into the outlet of the FP-25 until its face seal is tight against the flow body.
  2. Push the silicone tubing onto the barb.
  3. Fit the other end of the tubing onto the barb of the BAM flow audit adapter.
  4. Place the flow audit adapter onto the top of the BAM downtube, or the PM2.5 cyclone if you are using one.
  5. Insert the FP-25 external temperature probe into the sampler’s radiation shield.
  6. Be sure to tare the Alicat FP-25 before you begin the BAM 1020 or BAM 1022 flow calibration.

  1. Thread the Direct Mode downtube adapter into the outlet of the FP-25 until its face seal is tight against the flow body.
  2. Thread the Direct Mode PM inlet adapter into the inlet of the FP-25 until its face seal is tight against the flow body.
  3. Fit the FP-25 onto the BAM downtube.
  4. Fit the leak check adapter onto the PM inlet adapter of the FP-25.
  5. Select gauge or absolute pressure on the FP-25 to monitor sampler pressure during the leak check.
