WOB-L PISTON
WOB-L® Gas Piston Pump Operating Principle
The WOB-L® piston pumps are a type of reciprocating pump that converts the rotary motor’s energy into the piston's linear motion within the pump cylinder. The piston rod, usually single-casted, is mounted to an eccentric bearing assembly attached to the motor shaft.
A rod/eccentric assembly that rotates about the shaft causes the piston end to tip or wobble, providing the origins for the trademark name. To compensate for the 'wobbling' and increase the Thomas pump's efficiency, the piston is sealed to the cylinder by a flanged disk cup, which forms both axial and radial seal and a mechanical guide for the piston. This positive displacement pump runs dry. The cylinder is coated with low friction and high heat conductivity materials and requires no lubrication.
